QUALITY CONTROL
Our Design Team organization consists of three (3) levels of engineering involvement:
1. There is a Principle-in-Charge (PIC) and Project Manager (PM) assigned to each of our projects. At least one principal is directly involved with every project.
2. Our HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Department Heads are involved with the respective members of their discipline and are readily available to everyone in their department. Their function sometimes includes the role of Lead Engineer on a project and always includes design supervision.
3. Project Engineers/Designers are the third level of engineering involvement. They perform the engineering production tasks for the project and coordinate with their Department Head and PIC/PM throught the project.
We also have a Support/Production Staff which include CAD drafters, typists and technical services. These staff members coordinate and collaborate with the three levels of engineering.
Hurd & Obenchain, Inc. holds weekly in-house scheduling/progress meetings which benefit project coordination in many ways. It promotes timely performance of all projects and also provides the opportunity to discuss job-specific engineering issues with Senior Staff Members. In the same way, large projects have periodic, individual, design progress meetings.
Our in-house approach to quality control is carried over into the field through our Construction Administration Department. Two (2) of our Staff Engineers are dedicated soley to Construction Administration. We place tremendous emphasis on the Construction Administration phase of each project; the success of a quality design effort is highly dependent on the Contractor's proper understanding of Contract Documents and the Engineer's oversight of construction.
