MICHAEL B. HURD, PE
PRESIDENT/CEO
Mr. Hurd has been a part of the mechanical engineering industry since 1978. He is a licensed professional engineer, specializing in HVAC Design Engineering, Project Management, and Construction Management.
Mike graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1978, and in 1986, became a Licensed Professional Engineer. He is licensed in five states: Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Maryland. He is also certified by The National Council of Examiners for Engineers.
He began his career in 1978 with Sowers, Rodes & Whitescarver, which is a predecessor firm of Hurd & Obenchain, Inc., as a Mechanical Design Engineer. In 1983 he went to work for Robert F. Zeigler, Inc., a mechanical contracting firm in Winchester, Virginia, as a Branch Manager and Chief Engineer. In 1987, Mike re-joined our firm as Vice President. He has served as President of the firm since 1991. Mike moved to Richmond in 2001 to start our Richmond Office. He is involved with the Business Development, leads the Mechanical Division of the Firm, and oversees the Construction Administration Department.
